Sacred Heart Primary School - Leicester
The Brief,
This inner city school had limited play space for the pupils. We were asked to put a proposal together to transform a 1000m2 embankment. The area was too steep to maintain and an unsightly backdrop to the school playground. Working closely with the staff we were able to come up with a proposal that created a low maintenance trim trail through the embankment. Within the area we hand built an outdoor/classroom canopy with seating, raised beds for planting, climbing wall, wobble bridge, embankment climbing net, raised deck with 5m embankment slide. In addition we resurfaced a trim trail with artificial grass removing the old bark. The embankments were then enclosed with hemp rope handrails; the ugly metal fencing was covered with bespoke fence banners. Finally the area was completed with signage and finished off with two wigwam dens.

The Feedback...
It is amazing to create new play areas for children. Working through the summer holidays and seeing the children’s reactions on their return is the most rewarding part to these projects.
Head teacher, Kate Hayles
“ I would like to thank Tim and boys for such an amazing job! They have not only managed to turn a wasteland into a magnificent, creative and safe play area for the children, but they managed to do it at a great price and with complete professionalism. So many times, it is a struggle to get hold of contractors to ask about changes (or additional things you’ve suddenly thought of) but not with Marley. I really look forward to our next project together.”
